Spirit Keeping without fear

Spirit Keeping and the Fear of “Evil Spirits”

I sometimes get this question, especially from people who are just starting out with spirit keeping:
“Are the spirits you offer safe? Can they turn evil or harm pets or children?”

The short answer? Yes, they’re absolutely safe.
And no, they don’t turn evil.

Let’s be honest, why would anyone want to work with, let alone offer, dangerous spirits? That would make no sense. Only someone incredibly careless or irresponsible would do such a thing, and that’s definitely not what happens here.

Now, I totally understand why this question comes up. For someone new to the metaphysical world, there’s a lot of mystery, and unfortunately, also a lot of misinformation. Many people just want to make sure they’re safe, and that’s completely fair. It’s natural to want reassurance when stepping into something you can’t fully see or touch.

But sometimes, the question can also sound like there’s doubt in the conjurer, like maybe they’re not experienced enough or that they might accidentally send out something harmful. I get it. Trust takes time. And sadly, there are people out there who take advantage of others’ belief in the unseen.

So asking questions isn’t wrong, in fact, I think it’s smart. It shows you care about what you’re bringing into your life.

However, it’s also worth mentioning that this fear often gets stirred up by certain online forums or competing shops claiming that they are the only “safe” conjurers out there, and everyone else (especially on Etsy) is fake or dangerous. That’s just not true. Integrity doesn’t depend on where someone sells, it depends on who they are and how they do their work.

Where the Fear Comes From

The fear of “evil spirits” usually runs a little deeper than we realize.
It’s often tied to how we were raised, the stories we’ve heard, or the need we all have to feel safe and in control. The unknown can be scary,  and let’s face it, spirits are definitely part of the unknown for most people.

Yes, malicious energies do exist, but they are far rarer than people think. Most of the time, what we perceive as external negativity is actually the reflection of our own energy. Our thoughts are powerful; anxiety, fear, and negativity can create “thought forms” that seem like independent entities but are really just extensions of our own energy.

So sometimes, when something unfortunate happens after welcoming a spirit, it’s easy to point fingers at the spirit or the conjurer. But more often, it’s just life, inevitability, coincidence, destiny, or the natural ebb and flow of energy.

You’re More Protected Than You Think

Here’s something I wish everyone knew: you’re not alone.
You’re surrounded by guardians, ancestors, and loving energies that have your back, even if you’re not aware of them. There are limits to what negative entities can do, and most of the time, they can’t even reach you unless you’re energetically open to that kind of influence.

So when something bad happens, try not to jump to the conclusion that it’s because of a spirit. It’s almost never that.

A Balanced Approach

Be responsible with your metaphysical practice. Use your preferred methods of protection, whether that’s through talismans, spells, prayer, calling upon archangels, or simply grounding your energy. But don’t let fear rule your spiritual path.

Just don’t let fear take over. Paranoia will drain your energy and close you off from the beauty of what spirit keeping can really be. The more relaxed, trusting, and open you are, the stronger your connection with your spirit companions becomes.

Fear blocks connection.
Trust builds it.

So take a breath, and remember that spirit keeping is meant to bring light, guidance, and support into your life, not fear.

You’re safe. You’re protected. And you’re part of something truly magical.
