Unless one is already fluent in conjuring and entertaining safe relationships with spirits, for spirit keepers, finding a trustworthy conjurer is one of the most important steps in building a genuine and safe spiritual practice. Unfortunately, with the growing interest in spirit companionship, the market has also attracted scammers who prey on eager and novice seekers. Understanding the key differences between an authentic conjurer and a fraudulent one can save you from financial loss, spiritual harm, and disappointment.
In this post I collected some thoughts on how to differentiate between genuine and fraudulent in relation to spirit keeping shops. I am not only a conjurer of spirits but also I have been a spirit keeper for many years and purchased from many shops. So here for you a quick summary of my understanding on this delicate subject gathered throughout the years.
Disclaimer: the text in this post obviously describes only my point of view based on my experience, might differ from others' point of view. In the end I suggest to use your common sense when dealing with any type of metaphysical seller.
A basic level of transparency is one of the factors that differentiates honesty from scam. You have been given zero info on who is selling you something. I mean that you have no idea if you are buying from a business or from an individual for example. You have no idea who is behind the shop, it could be an old lady, it could be a teen, it could be your neighbor, it could be whoever! I think you understand my point here. If they hide or do not give valid information about their business operations if asked (for example do they collect consumer taxes? if not why not? what is their business id number?), in most of the cases they are probably someone trying to get some "easy" money.
What is not necessarily a sign of scam in some cases: It is true that some hide their identity online to try to avoid the stigma, as although we are in the 2025 there are still people with prejudices on metaphysical practitioners, however a genuine conjurer will fully believe in what they do, own what they do and take responsibility of what they do in transparency. Being a bit mysterious is part of the conjurer or metaphysical practitioner persona, and that does not necessarily mean being a scammer. Some also do not show their face online for fear of being stalked or harassed etc. so there are reasons why someone may hide their personal information online and protect their privacy, and those should not be taken as a reason to conclude someone is a scammer. Also, usually conjurers will not disclose their conjurations or binding methods in detail as that is something that is somehow like the "secret ingredient", which is obviously not something to be disclosed to the public, just like some brands do not reveal the secret ingredient of a recipe as otherwise everyone start copying etc. so I personally would not count that level of secrecy as a red flag.
Authentic conjurers charge fair prices that reflect the energy, skill, and time involved in their work. They will not promise instant results or claim to provide omnipotent beings at low costs. Also, fraudulent conjurers often use fear-based tactics (e.g., "You must buy this or face bad luck!"), or offer impossibly powerful spirits for cheap to lure in buyers.
Some red flags are:
Spirits offered as “all-powerful,” “invincible,” or “capable of anything”. Please read more about this in the section Healthy View on Magick & Spirits.
Excessively low prices. You need to understand that to conjure, vet, bind, and work on channeling for writeups the conjurer must put effort and time. To focus on one spirit is energy consuming. Imaging when you need to focus on many at once. Unless someone conjures as a hobby and offers services for free to the public (which I bet very few do), they will ask for an exchange of energy in money, to cover the costs of their work and time at least, which is fair enough. Some conjurers have their shop as only source of income, they need to earn money to pay for bills, bread and electricity, so it is a obvious thing they will charge for any service they provide.
Excessively high price. A spirit connection costing thousands of dollars is obviously a red flag. Unless the conjurer offers very time consuming services together with the spirit binding, which of course it needs to be charged. However I still need to find a service that should be charged that much. No words to be added here, you may use your common sense.
Claims that they are the only one able to conjure a special type of spirit. I have mentioned this in other situations when talking about Angelika Magick Exclusive Conjures. A conjurer may find a race and be the first one offering the connection to it to the public, but a conjurer does not own the right on a race. Anyone capable of safely conjuring can conjure any race.
Unfortunately there are still people out there who will tell you a certain conjurer bound an evil spirit to you, and this kind of nasty stuff, just to get you as their next loyal customer. They will say they have unbound the evil spirit and banished them from you so that you feel they are the hero who came to save you. The reality is there was no evil spirit, just energy disturbances or thought forms at the most. They used fear to get your money and they slander other businesses so that you disengage from the other sellers. Very cheap tactic used to get a bigger slice of the spirit keeping market. Avoid that kind of seller!
True conjurers have deep respect for spirits and operate with their free will in mind. They do not force spirits into being something that they are not. Fake conjurers often describe spirits as slaves, objects, or tools for personal gain, disregarding their autonomy and well-being.
Some red flags are:
Offering spirits as "servants", "husbands/wives", sex slaves, or "all powerful protectors".
Treating spirits like wish-granting machines rather than sentient beings, this is a obvious sign of scam. Spirits have limitations in what they can do, all wish granters have limitations caused by many factors, such as destiny, physical laws etc.
I am not here to talk about the use of AI in the writeups as that is not a true sign of scam. AI is used all around on the internet as it helps doing things faster. Angelika Magick uses sometimes AI to generate images and finetune text and make it more appealing to the reader so I can not comment on that. What instead I will mention is the amount of details included in a writeup and the type of details. It is understandable to wanting to know as much as possible on a spirit companion. However one needs to be realistic, spirits are not book's or anime characters, they are energy beings and they usually do not reveal fantasy-like stories when communicating with them, or a whole superlong story including funny anecdotes. They reveal very basic and quite general information on their energy, maybe the age (although the age means nothing for most of the spirits as they live beyond our reality's time), why they are looking for a keeper or what they can do to support a keeper, the place where they live in the astral, maybe if they have other friends, a family or their role in the society in which they live, and so on. Spirits are often mysterious, they live on a different energy plane than us, and do not disclose certain details even if asked many times, in most of the cases because those details do not apply to them and to their existence as astral entities, I am talking about trivial details that would apply more to a living human (or worse to a fantasy character) than an astral entity. So, superlong writeups that go into depth into nonsense details on a spirit and that describe the spirits as they would be a fantasy character found in books are to be considered a big red flag. You use your own common sense and intuition and will know what feels like a total BS when reading a writeup and what instead sounds reasonable.
This is a hard to answer question as we know that spirits can not always give us signs that are obvious, like knocking on a door or lighting up lights, as there are physical and energy limitations between the realms. Also the keeper's own abilities, mood, state of mind, past traumas, energy levels etc. may influence what is perceived. One keeper may feel subtle energies much easier than another and so on. One keeper might be more aligned to a certain race of spirits and feel those better than others. One keeper might be more sensitive to the spirits coming from one conjurer than from another. So unfortunately spirit activity is not a reliable factor on which to base our conclusions on a conjurer being genuine or not. My suggestion is that if one, after getting several spirit bindings, can not feel a conjurer's spirits, they need to try with the spirits from some other sources, however please do not label a conjurer as fake just because you can not feel the spirit, as that could be unfair in relation to conjurers who really do the work and connect you to a real spirit.
Finding a real conjurer requires patience, research, and discernment. A legitimate conjurer will encourage your growth, support your journey, and treat both you and the spirits with respect, they won't give you all the answers. Use your intuition and common sense, remain open to possibilities but keep your feet on the ground. I wish all of you a genuine, enriching, and ethical spirit keeping experience.
